The Arvidan Chronicles

By Susan Trott

Desperate to leave a dying world, the people of Zydee flee across the stars aboard the Arvidan — a vast generation ship carrying the last hope of their civilization.

Their long journey through the void ends when they arrive on Earth nearly 30,000 years ago, finding a planet both beautiful and perilous, shrouded in ice and mystery.

Beneath Antarctica’s frozen expanse, an ancient story begins to stir — one that will challenge what it means to survive, to remember, and to be human.
A visionary blend of science fiction, myth, and ecological mystery, Escape opens The Arvidan Chronicles, a saga of memory, loss, and the enduring hope that bridges worlds.

The Gods Grow Quiet

Book 2

In this second installment of The Arvidan Chronicles, the Zydeans begin to walk among the people of Earth. They heal. They teach. They share fragments of knowledge with small human villages struggling to survive in a harsh and unpredictable environment.

Some Zydeans are invited to live among the humans. Over time, bonds form between the two species, and children are born of both worlds. Some of these children carry strange gifts-whispers of insight and intuition that echo through generations.

But when the Zydeans realize they are being worshipped as gods, they choose to withdraw. One day they simply vanish from the world they had quietly shaped. Yet the planet itself is changing.

As the Ice Age begins to loosen its grip on the Earth, far to the north the ancient waters trapped beneath the great glaciers begin to break free. A catastrophe older than memory is about to reshape the continent-sweeping away forests, rivers, and the fragile settlements of early humanity.

Hidden in cities beyond time, the watchers must decide:

Will they remain silent observers of a young and struggling species?

Or will they once again step into the story of Earth?

The Gods Grow Quiet is a sweeping tale of speculative prehistory where science, myth, and the deep memory of the planet intertwine. When the land itself begins to change, both humans and watchers must learn the same ancient truth:  Survival belongs to those who can adapt.

ESCAPE

Book 1

Thirty thousand years ago, the Zydean civilization abandoned their dying planet. Captain Tuatu, scientist Ureth, and the sentient intelligence VIRA crossed the stars aboard the living arkship Arvidan, carrying ten thousand souls toward an uncertain future.

Their journey ends at a world already claimed-Earth. To preserve their arrival in secrecy, the Zydeans descend beneath the Antarctic ice, building a refuge within its frozen depths. Yet the silence they expected is not empty. The seas move with unseen purpose, the air hums with strange rhythms, and the planet itself seems aware.

As they struggle to survive, the Zydeans must confront what it means to adapt, to love, and to awaken on a world that may not welcome them.

Blending myth and science, Escape begins The Arvidan Chronicles, a visionary science-fiction saga exploring consciousness, memory, and the fragile thread that binds all life across the stars.
